This could be the coolest kitchen gadget of all time! Microsoft is holding a contest to find the best idea for a next gen pc. The Yummy Kitchen Connect is one of the submissions and has some incredible real world functionality. Bring the YKC home and hang it on your kitchen wall. Using the built in barcode scanner, register the contents of your pantry. Then the Yummster uses it’s brain to help you put together shopping lists, manage a diet or plan a menu. Maybe the coolest function is it’s ability to scan the blogosphere for recipes and find meals that match the contents of your pantry!

Hey Bill…build it & it will sell!

This is amazing. It will definitely save some of my time. I spend most mornings wondering what to cook everyday. If it can sum up everything in a jiffy then it will be a miracle. Let me know when this is available online.

Is this a cut down version of the internet refrigerator? It sounds pretty useful, especially near the end of the week when most of the contents of my fridge are depleted or going off.

I think this will be the perfect gift for my wife. But I would love to hear cost about it.

That sounds brilliant – a terrific gift for abandoned spouses, or students starting off on their own etc – all depending on pricepoint of course. And I hope it can take account of dietary preferences such as vegetarianism, allergies etc.
