Jaime Oliver Flavour Shaker

flavourshaker.jpg

This new kitchen gadget from Jaime Oliver caught my interest when I saw the cheesy TV ad, where an aging resort barman shakes up a storm with the device. While it didn’t give me an urge to bring out the old Hawaiian shirt, the concept struck me as interesting. Essentially this thing is a one handed morter and pestle. The heavy duty plastic exterior contains a heavy ceramic ball that smashes the living daylights out of the inserted ingredients.

I was pretty excited to receive one this Christmas, but I haven’t yet had time to try it out. To read a review and maybe even score a free one, visit the new FoodTV.ca blog.

While Jamie may never become rich from me, I on the otherhand, may will the chance to retain this month’s payment into my retirement savings simply by asking a local college student enrolled in the Crafts & Design programme to make me two ceramic balls (one is a back up) which I will add to my own small plastic container to smash the living daylights out of ingredients.

The two ceramic balls = $5.
The $25 CDN saved = priceless.

I can’t type today. Sorry about that. Should read, “…will have the chance to retain…”

I had a chance to try it out this morning. Smashed up some peppercorns, rather than grinding them. It did a great job & was kinda fun to boot. Nice quality and looks cool too.
