I came across Food Porn Daily today, pun intended, and spent about 20 minutes captivated by the rotation of simply salacious photos.

You see, not only are we Foodies, but Mooby and I have sort of become photography buffs over the past few years. This isn’t to say that either of us are overly skilled, but we like taking photos. More so, we can really appreciate the skill it takes to really create captivating photos.

Food Porn Daily is guaranteed to make you hungry and it just might make you feel a tiny bit naughty…

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the frightening vision of Bacon Cheese Turtle Burgers!

Yes, you really are looking at a turtle shaped lump of heart attack on a plate. This artery hardening vision was sent my way via This is why you’re fat. Believe it or not, the little snappers are not the most unhealthy things on the menu, though certainly the most disturbing.

Some of the other treats include Meta Meat Cake, Corn Dog Egg Rolls and the Bacon-Wrapped Burrito Log. All of this is just part of the first page! I’m almost afraid to delve further into the site to see what awaits me.

As an automotive writer, I often have the opportunity to visit places that I wouldn’t likely ever see otherwise. The down side is that I am usually only in a city for about a day and a half and I have little more than a few hours to explore on my own. This past Fall I was in Portland for the first time. Once I woke up from my cross country travel induced nap, I headed out for a walk to see a bit of the city.

What I discovered was this really cool food phenomenon. It seems like every parking lot in downtown Portland has a row of these old travel trailers that have been converted to little take out food joints. They are all very brightly painted, looking more like a collection of pop art than a row of kitchens on wheels. It seems as if every culture on the planet is represented by their culinary traditions. Sadly, I had eaten during my transfer in Vancouver and was about to endure enjoy a huge meal at the press event. This meant that there was no way I was going to sample anything from any of these vendors.

Since that trip, I’ve spoken with a couple of people who have lived in Portland and it was explained that these food carts have been in town for years and are a serious lunch staple of office dwellers. Yesterday I came across Food Carts Portland, a great blog devoted to these reviewing these semi mobile sources of lunchtime nutrition.

If I have the opportunity to return, I’ll be sure to arrive on an empty tummy and sample a couple of carts.

Who woulda thought? A cooking with kids blog that has a recipe for Kitty Litter Cake! Kidskuisine has the somewhat frightening cake treat, along with a whole lot more. Recipes are designed to be easy and fun for kids to make and eat. Some of the cooler treats for Halloween included Glycol Punch, Pumpkin Gut Nachos and even Pond Scum.

We’ve got birthdays coming up, and I’ll be the boys will want to gross out their friends with a litter box full of cat crap!

While doing some research for the launch of our new home, I came across the Hot Sauce Blog. This smokin hot read is devoted to everything spicy, including sauce reviews, recipes and even the Hot Sauce Hotties. Written with brutal honesty and a healthy dose of sarcasm, HSB is a great resource if you love the hot stuff.

How can you not be intrigued by a food blogger whose tag line is Gracefully turning tricks since 1999. This anonymous, pickle juice swillin’ caterer blogs about food, clients and life in general. I’m looking forward to trying “Collard greens – Food Whore style”.

Last week, One of Seven posted a review of a couple of recipes from The low carb gourmet, by Brigit Binns. This wonderful post has introduced us to Brigit and her new blog. Road Foodie is Brigit’s journal of food and drink she’s enjoyed (or not) as she travels around the world. She’s witty and well written and I just love reading about steak houses in Texas. As one who spent time as a bartender years ago, I can relate to Brigit’s description of what makes a good bartender.
