Vintage Woolworth menu

I was strolling through some of the images on the Vintage Toronto Facebook page when I came across this gem: a menu from a Woolworth store. There was a time when all the department stores in Toronto also had a little cafeteria. I remember Zellers and Woolworth, and even some Eatons and Simpsons stores had them. It was a real treat to go for a grilled cheese back then. Wait, it still is!

Of course the juvenile in me thinks that one menu item surpasses all of the others: PRESSED HAM Sandwiches!

  1. OMG — the fact that nothing on the menu costs more than 65 cents? Phenomenal!! But that pressed ham sandwich — no way!!
