Food porn: Rustic garlic bread pizza

Rustic garlic bread pizza

I hate to sound like a total knob, but the discovery of home made pizza dough at 43 years of age has been somewhat of an epiphany for me.

Last week I found a simple variation for garlic bread pizza courtesy of Jamie’s Italy.

So simple:
Toss your dough to the size you want.
Brush with EVOO
Sprinkle some finely minced garlic
Sprinkle some sliced flat leaf parsley
Cut some slits in the dough in random spots

Bake
Grate some fresh parm on top

Like most of our recipes, I took some liberties. I cooked it on the BBQ. After a bit of trial and error, I found that 4 minutes over indirect heat is just about perfect.

The result? Light, crispy pizza with a raggedy look and an out of this world garlic experience.

Recommendation: If you are heading out on a date, make sure your partner is around when you make this or you don’t stand a chance! This stuff is strong!

  1. I’m ever more of a knob then because I didn’t start making homemade pizza dough until last winter when I was 47, lol! I was so excited, I felt like I discovered homemade pizza dough! I have to admit I never thought of making garlic bread pizza. Fabulous!!! Thanks for the great idea.

  2. It’s just so good, and so easy. The other night, we were on our way out of the house without the kids and realized that we hadn’t sorted out dinner for them yet. Rather than ordering something, I through together a batch of dough! Makes them happy and saves $$ too!
